Greenscape’s Rhubarb, Honey & Mint Shower Gel

I spotted this in John Lewis the other day and being the sucker I am for anything that claims to invigorate me I bought it.  I’m usually a good riser, but on some mornings, I’m so sluggish and I really need a pick me up and that’s where an invigorating shower gel comes in. I was also intrigued by the ‘Multigrain Skin Care’ tagline.

Well, this shower gel really packs a punch. It smells amazing. It’s mainly sweet rhubarb I can smell on the first squirt and it is absolutely delicious. Next the peppermint, its really refreshing and I found if I inhaled deeply it had the same effect of clearing my sinuses. Strange, but a good feeling. I felt kind of clear-headed and invigorated. Peppermint is also very soothing and a natural antiseptic. You can’t really smell the honey, but its known to be very moisturising. I’m just happy to know that its there doing it’s thing silently. The smell lingers lightly on skin as well. I liked it.

Now on to the multigrain claim. I was expecting a grainy gel with bits in it. I was thinking ‘hmm exfoliator thrown in.’ Not so. It was smooth, just like any regular shower gel. I was a little disappointed. On reading the label in more detail, the multigrain is blended. It must be blended really really really smooth then. I would have liked bits. Also the gel itself is not pink 😦 Only the bottle is pink. Fooled me there! It’s comforting to know that the ingredients are naturally derived and it’s free from all the bad stuff like sulphates, parabens, artificial colours and other harsh chemicals. Guess that explains why it’s not pink!

One thing bothered me though. When I saw organic homemade on the label I thought it was organic and homemade IN the UK. No, its made in South Africa. This in itself is fine and I have no problem with it, I just think it creates a bit of a false impression as I thought it was a UK made product.

That aside, would I buy it again? Yes.

I bought it at John Lewis – £8.95
